John Thompson, the hugely popular figure in Canterbury cricket, passed away yesterday. Affectionately known as Thommo, John served the sport for over 50 years in roles that covered administration, selection, team management and as a club groundsman. He was a Life Member of Christchurch Metro Cricket and Canterbury Cricket.
